Screenshots fixed and Legacy Mode
Hola,
we just fixed this critical issue about some screenshots not showing up in your partner directories. We are hosting the new image database on a CDN server, which means the images will have a lightning-fast loading speed on your website, no matter where in the world your visitors are coming from.
This is a server-side fix, so you DO NOT have to update the plugin for this, as it will work right away on your website. If you still see issues, please empty your page cache and the changes will show up immediately.
LEGACY MODE EXPLAINED
50 new users in the last 4 weeks In the last 4 weeks alone we welcomed 50 new users to the partner directory. Of course, these new users could not follow our previous conversation about the V1 bug fixes and do know nothing about the last 15 months of growing the network. Yesterday I had a discussion with a new user about the issues with the transition from V1 to V2 and some people NOT linking out or not openly displaying the partner directory. The reason for this is really important to understand for all our users, so I will sum it up for everyone again: We are still in transition from V1 to V2 Users are still switching from V1 as a pure JavaScript code to V2 as a native WordPress plugin. Not all users have made the transition to the V2 WP plugin and not everyone will, as many are not even using WordPress at all. Some old V1 users are not linking back out Even though most people now do link out, there are still some old V1 users that do not. Those black sheep are the ones that are not playing fair! There are many people not openly linking out, because of the old V1 link scheme that was only 1:1, which means linking out to everyone was mandatory. Now that the network has grown into many different categories, this is no longer recommended by us and we fixed this with the introduction of the V2 filters. If you are using the WordPress plugin, but still only use 1 code, we strongly recommend stacking at least a second code to be able to use the category filters and avoid the 1:1 link scheme! But not everything is as bad as it might seem! Users not publicly displaying the directory might still have the link to the directory page included in their sitemap for Google to find. You would not be able to find it in their footer menu, but they still send you SEO power! With V1 it was not possible for us to enforce the backlinks. A big problem that we now have solved with V2. But we still need to respect the legacy here and let older users keep the V1 version. That said, we are already removing everyone from V1 which makes the transition to V2. Please note that this is a manual task and some listings might slip our notice, so please send us a message in case you find something odd! We will be enforcing the backlinks in the future We are currently working on the partner page URL diversification as well as the module to check for the live directory code. If the directory shortcode is not found on a live page, we will automatically disable your listing for everyone in the network. This means all old V1 users that refuse or cannot yet make the upgrade to WordPress will not be visible in the V2 directory anymore. Consequently, we will have two very clean and separate directories (old V1 legacy mode) and new V2 with enforced partner pages. Not a WordPress user? Wait for V3 as a PHP version. ETA Q1/23 Everyone still waiting to upgrade to V2 but not using WordPress will be able to use the V3 PHP script version that we are looking forward to releasing in Q1/23. This upgrade will remove your listing from the V1 directory and add you to the new V2 directory with all the new features and filters available.
Hope that clarifies the situation 🙂 |
WHAT´S COMING NEXT?
We are currently working on redesigning the whole onboarding process as well as the new reporting page that will show up your basic statistics as well as display your whole partner network linking IN and OUT.
As this is all interconnected it´s basically one huge task, so it takes a bit longer than we expected. But as always, you can expect awesome things from us, so it´s definitely worth the wait!
These are things we are currently working on and that you can expect in one of the upcoming updates:
- A new reporting page with the most important statistics.
- Showing your partner network with backlinks coming IN and OUT in full detail.
- Blacklisting functionality for unwanted partners, like competitors.
- Redesign the onboarding process visualization for better UX/UI.
- Filters by country
- Daisychain functionality for the most advanced protection from Google algo changes and penalties.
- Diversification of the Partner Page URL, so it´s safe from detection by Google.
- Monitoring the live status of the directory page else disabling the listing in the network.
