24h Content Marketing Results - WTF?
Yesterday I was promoting the launch competition of my backlinks exchange network ViSPR.net.
Actually, I was focused on submitting to sweepstakes sites as it is a raffle-like competition to receive bonus entries for actions like sharing and so on.
I submitted to about 15 sweepstakes sites. Additionally, I used Linkedin, Twitter, Hackernews, and your usual suspects. I was feeling quite creative about it as I was experimenting with this new sweepstakes channel for the first time. But just looking at these sites was making it quite clear that the matching would be super awful. Still, you need to try new things.
Only as an afterthought did I post it to a handful of Facebook groups dedicated to Lifetime deals, to your typical AppSumo crowd. I did not think this was really relevant as it is not even a Lifetime deal in the actual sense, but I was in for a big surprise this morning.
When I checked Google Analytics the results were absolutely clear who plays in the premier league and who is just watching from the sidelines. Traffic from Facebook as 207 site visitors against only 7 from ALL other sources combined.
All of those sweepstakes sites combined did only send 1 visitor snooping around. Maybe a curious one taking a look at that weirdo offer, haha.
My Conclusion
When doing content marketing – stick to Facebook. It is still number one after all, no matter how much people keep telling you that Facebook is dead. It´s not. Simple fact.
